Yorvik Electrical Contractors, headed by electricians Mike Frew and Ben Skilbeck, have been in business since 2004, when House & Son (Electric) Limited, formally York's oldest family run electrical company, closed after the retirement of the remaining House family.

The management team, headed by electricians Ben Skilbeck and Mike Frew, together with the majority of the existing contracting division staff, got together to form a new company - Yorvik Electrical Contractors Ltd.

They say: "In Yorvik's first year, we aimed to assure all our original loyal customers that we are here to stay and that our commitment to quality and service is still paramount."

Historically the team has worked predominately in the York area, but now travel much further afield to accommodate existing customers.

Mike was apprentice-trained by House & Son and continued his technical qualifications at York Technical College before rejoining House & Son.

Ben joined House & Son as an estimator in 2000 having completed his training with another local electrical contractor.
